Worcester
The University of Worcester Society of Change Ringing (UWSCR) is a new society revived in 2026 for students in Worcester to learn bellringing. We welcome anyone whether completely new or advanced to ring with us! Worcester has always had too few students to form a society, but has been set up with the hope of getting enough people involved to keep it going. Therefore, our focus is taking on new learners and progressing them quickly to ring with other people (which is where it gets fun), and enjoying themselves while doing it. We’ll often go to the pub to hang out after too.
Our main practice is Thursday 19:30-21:00 at St Johns Church Worcester (8 bells 15cwt), and if there are learners we have a teaching/handling practice 18:30-19:30. For those who are eager, we ring at Worcester Cathedral (12 bells 48cwt) on Monday 18:30-19:30 for their teaching practice and, depending on ability, stay for the main practice 19:30-21:15. Everyone is welcome at either tower, even just to come along and see what we do! If you do need a lift back, we can probably arrange it.
All Worcester student ringers are welcomed at the Birmingham Universities Society (BUSCR), and students from Hereford and Gloucester are welcome to join us at either practice. Contact us beforehand to make sure we’re on!
We look forward to seeing you!
