Shropshire

Practice: Tuesday

While there is currently no student society, students are welcome to join in with ringing in the local area.

The Shropshire Association covers the towers in the Salop Archdeaconry of the Lichfield Diocese. This is roughly the area north of the River Severn, from near Wolverhampton in the southeast to Selattyn in the northwest. All within driving distance of university study sites such as those based in Edgmond (Harper Adams University) Telford (Uni of Wolverhampton) and Shrewsbury (prep courses in social care and humanities). All welcome, including students who may be studying from home.

We are a friendly bunch, mostly in rural locations and well used to visitors. It is a small society with a dispersed membership and a range of beautiful small churches. we have regular quarterly evening meetings across the area, a summer striking competition and in 2026 a walking tour of the central churches - a chance to grab some towers and have a social at the same time. The secretary can always put you in the right direction to find a tower near you and keep your ringing going whilst at university. As we are a rural county, most require cars rather than public transport but there are some towers in Telford to bring a slightly more urban aspect to what we can offer in both Dawley and Wellington.

You can find more information on the Shropshire Association website.
