Dublin University Guild of Change Ringers

Practice: Tuesday 18:15-20:00

A typical practice night is usually more elementary ringing (rope-handling, rounds & calls) until 7pm, with change ringing (Plain Hunt to Surprise methods) thereafter.

Our ringers come from many different backgrounds from students to busy workers to retirees. The atmosphere in the belfry is very friendly. We like to go for a drink together once a month and for coffee more often. The cathedral is very supportive of the ringers and contributes to social events. We have an outing to towers elsewhere in Ireland every summer.

There are four active towers in Dublin (Christ Church Cathedral, St Audoen’s, Christ Church Taney and ourselves). Recently several quarter peals have been rung by local bands (see BellBoard). Peals are restricted to one a year in St Patrick’s and are rung by visiting (English) bands. The Irish Association (IACR) organises district practices and striking competitions throughout the year (see https://bellringingireland.org/)
