Northern Universities Association TRANSPORT PROBLEMS The Spring Term N.U.A. meeting on 14th February was fairly well attended, numbers being slightly lower than at the autumn meeting but with more universities represented. Those present included members from Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Warwick and Birmingham. As usual there were problems over transport, aggravated by the ‘flu epidemic which claimed two of our drivers. Everyone was squeezed into vehicles somehow and we set off for Wolverhampton in good spirits. The tour began with eights at Codsall, Tettenhall and Penn, followed by lunch at Wom bourne, where permission to ring was finally confirmed five minutes before ringing began! Next, the recently - recast eight at Bilston and the 12 in Wolverhampton, where our arrival coincided with the end of a “ Wolves ” home match, making progress through the city somewhat difficult. Some of the party lost their bearings so completely that they set off confidently along the road to Stafford, hoping to get to Willenhall, where they eventually arrived very late! The last tower of the day was Walsall, after which we started for home, very tired. For those staying overnight there was a party held in Ridge Hall, and in the morning there was a wide choice of towers for service-ringing. The weekend was fairly successful, despite many setbacks, and a thoroughly good time was had by all. Particular thanks to Chris Turner (Leeds) who took over the driving of our minibus.
