Region: Cumbria
The University of Cumbria has 9 campuses across Cumbria, Lancashire and London. All named towers welcome ringers of any level.
There is no active ringing society at the moment, probably due to the wide area covered by the university but there is ringing near each campus with friendly people and active learning.
There are opportunities to progress at all levels, and for those with higher levels, there are monthly advanced practices in the Carlisle DG which are publicised on the website: carlisle-dgcbr.org.uk. See also Lancaster University.
The Lancashire Association of Change Ringers is one of the main bellringing associations in the North West of England. It covers the area formerly occupied by the old County of Lancashire, and now encompasses Lancashire, Greater Manchester, North Merseyside, South Cumbria and a few small parts of Yorkshire. It is also the main ringing association covering the Isle of Man.
Carlisle Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers – Our towers are scattered across west, east and north Cumbria; extending from Irton, with its magnificent view of Wasdale, and St Bees, on the Irish Sea coast, across to the edge of the Pennines where Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, are linked by the Settle-Carlisle Railway. In the centre lies Keswick and the Lake District; in the north Carlisle and Brampton are close to the Scottish border and Hadrian’s Wall. So whether you are a tower grabber or planning a holiday with some ringing allow plenty of time for your visit.
